About

Nestled in the communities of Adam and North Adams, CTI strives to provide opportunities to find that creative voice inside yourself and make a difference. From entrepreneurship to creating a work of art, creative thinking drives the passion, spark, and innovation that defines what CTI is all about. We are committed to the idea that knowledge is power. The power to change lives through imagination and innovative thinking. If it can improve your creative/critical thinking skills we will explore that value in depth.

Additionally, our programming is all about developing a sense of self and an appreciation of others. CTI will help you to think outside the box and face the challenges of life by tapping into your creative muse.

Though CTI is based in northwest Massachusetts we intent to serve the region and that includes the tristate area.

CTI Short and Long Term Goals.

Educational

Classes - CTI will offer classes in theatre, and related topics with the intention of expanding to include alternative creative based programming, Including classes on creative business and entrepreneurial topics. Anything creative in nature will be considered.

New Voices Project - The New Voices Project is an art in education program devoted to providing young adults within a community the tools to communicate and express how and what they feel through theatre. The New Voices Project seeks to bring the power of playwriting into the hands of young adults. Creative writing, particularly playwriting, is a powerful tool for self-expression, communication, and social interaction that transcends a classroom environment. This will be offered as after-school and in school supplemental programming.

Fighting your Dragons - We want to develop a summer camp that focuses on creative and problem solving skills through games, while also developing self-confidence and collaboration. This could be both summer camp and after school programming.

Lifestyle

Online Programming - Online learning resources for individual and homeschool use is essential in this era of self-determination. Being able to empower yourself from the comfort and safety of your home should not be impossible. CTI wants to assist in this effort through accessable programming online.

Podcasts - CTI would like to produce podcasts that introduce and illuminate the creative spirit for all to hear.

Shire Con - This area is such a beautiful place to have fun, so why not produce a gaming and pop culture convention that speaks to the creative and playful side in all of us. No, we aren’t referring top gambling. We are referring to wholesome imagination building. Out of your imagination comes innovation and creativity and that’s what Shire Con would be all about. Having fun with friends and family in an atmosphere that encourages making new friends.

Workshops, Seminars and General Family Fun - From Rock Horror Picture Show to Ted Talks - Very  fluid programming, but you get the idea.

Performance/Oculus Theatre Company

Shakespeare in the Shires - Showing the accessibility and relevance of this poetic text is a central reason for sharing these timeless works. Shakespeare was writing at a time when rhetoric was the skill needed to communicate effectively. Those skills can be seen in countless historical figures we admire and are still important today. Understanding Shakespeare can improve ones overall communication skills.

Fireside Playreading Series - Appreciating and understanding the written word improves our understanding of the world around us. Why not share that word in a way that creates dialogue and inspires writers to think and thinkers to write.

A Company - Our goal is to build relationships along our creative journey, and a company of artists is an age old approach to that end. The model needs some rethinking to adapt to changing times, but that is the hallmark of theatre. It evolves.

A season - Providing programming all year round is the eventual goal for OTC, because servicing a community is a year round need.

Co-productions - Working with other theatre organizations to develop programming. The power of collaboration cannot be understated.

“Creativity is not just for artists. It’s for businesspeople looking for a new way to close a sale; it’s for engineers trying to solve a problem; it’s for parents who want their children to see the world in more than one way.”

 - Twyla Tharp

“The most creative people are motivated by the grandest of problems that are presented before them.”

- Neil deGrasse Tyson
